Ron began learning stained glass as an art medium at the
McColl School of Visual Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2004. After moving
to Washington, DC, Ron studied under Gail Gavlock and Jimmy Powers at The Art
Institute in Olde Town, Alexandria. Ron is skilled in the copper foil
technique, as well as the more traditional lead came style. Ron’s major focus
has been on Frank Lloyd Wright designs and designs of the same genre that Ron
designs. Ron’s focus now is on taking commissions for lead came designs in the
Frank Lloyd Wright or Rennie Mackintosh genre. Ron is known for his use of
unique clear seeded glass as backgrounds in his designs.
Ron takes pride in ensuring each finished piece is unique,
such that no two panels will be exactly alike. This is done by varying the
glass shades, reshaping a design, use of specialty glass (such as Ron’s
favorite, clear seeded glass), type construction, various lead widths, and
especially custom designs.This ensures
you will have a unique piece of artwork that has not been constructed in
batches. Therefore, delivery may be delayed due to projects presently under
contract.
